Rabbi Stacey Blank was ordained by Hebrew Union College in 2007 after studying in both Los Angeles and Jerusalem. Her rabbinic thesis was “Rabbinic Midrash for Our Time – Five New Rabbinic Midrashim on Korach’s Rebellion”.
Rabbi Blank has served in congregations around the world including two years in Congregation Or Tzafon in Paso Robles, California, Temple Menorah in Pretoria, South Africa, and Temple Shalom in Brisbane, Australia, as well as congregations in Belarus. In her last year of studies, she was the rabbinic intern in Congregation Mevasseret Zion in Israel and worked on various projects in the World Union for Progressive Judaism and the Israeli Movement for Progressive Judaism.
Rabbi Blank was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and grew up in a large Reform congregation there. She was often told that she should be a rabbi, but it took her some time to find that path. She received a BA in Psychology from the George Washington University, worked with homeless drug-addicts in New York, and served the Jewish community in Poland from 2000-2002 as a volunteer with the JDC, helping to establish the first Reform congregation in Warsaw since World War II. This last experience finally helped Stacey realize that her path lie in the rabbinate.
Rabbi Blank has extensive experience with youth and social justice programming. She facilitates “Bibliodrama” seminars in which she leads groups in developing their own interpretation of Biblical texts.
Rabbi Blank has a MA in Hebrew Literature from HUC LA and also completed a two-year seminar in Pastoral Care at HUC in Jerusalem.
She loves to write midrash, stories, and poetry, travel, hiking, cooking, knitting,
and playing tennis. She is married to Tamir and is the mother of Yaron.
Rabbi Blank has served Congregation Darchei Noam since 2007. She is very happy and proud to be part of the blossoming of Reform Judaism in Ramat HaSharon.
